A hushed group gathers around a table in a busy spaceport bar. Two people sit opposed, each with a deck of cards before them. With a roar from the crowd they begin. Cards are spread out, stacked and sorted as the shape of a spaceship forms. Cheers erupt as one player finds a way to fill their cargo hold without being forced to make any company deals.

Meanwhile in a quiet corner a haggard figure uses the same deck to lay exactly six cards on the bench and reveal them one at a time. At the sight of each card they take a gulp of their drink and after seeing them all they rush out, their cheeks flooded with fresh tears.

This free trifold pamphlet contains rules for 2 games that could be played in any science fiction setting using a standard deck of playing cards. LANDERCROSS is a solitaire scoring game where the player tries to fill their ship with valuable cargo while racking up as little risk and debt in the process. CROSSLANDER can be used as a divination or storytelling tool concerning an upcoming mission for a ship’s crew.

You can play both games using a single standard 52-card deck of playing cards. I have also included purchasable image files for an entire deck of cards (and tuckbox) so that you can use them digitally or get a set printed like I did. These files include 55 cards (52 deck + 2 jokers + rules reference card) containing interpretation text for each card with the face cards and jokers featuring artwork by Strega Wolf van den Berg licensed under the Creative Comrades License Agreement 1.0
